Windward Artists Guild Announces the 62nd Annual Member Show

We invite our members to display their art at Ho'omaluhia in October. This is not a juried show, but it always brings out beautiful art from our members. Hanging work at Ho'omaluhia is a chance to show many visitors from all around the world your beautiful art! If you would like to join us for this show (and our upcoming Arts at Marks holiday show), please do feel free to join or renew your WAG membership. The members display is free for all WAG members. Then you can download the prospectus from our Call for Entry page. The gallery space in 2019 during our 59th annual member show Unlike previous years, we will be requiring members who have pieces in the show to be at the gallery for two 3-hour shifts during the month the show will be open (October 2022). This is a valuable opportunity to meet new people. You can answer questions they might have about the show or about your art, and it gives you a chance to see the show in depth and spend time at the gardens. Food is not allowed in the art gallery, but you can bring a snack and enjoy an impromptu picnic either before or after your gallery sitting.

61st Annual WAG Member Show

The Windward Artists Guild is proud to announce the online display of our 61st Annual Member Show! Go take a look and help us pick the People's Choice Award(s)! In the case of tie or near-tie, we will award more than one. The reception is on November 18, a Thursday in the evening. Exact time will be announced soon - please sign up to attend the reception and join us for a nice evening featuring a popular activity we call "Show and Tell" where artists can display works in progress or hot-off-the-easel works with the behind the scenes story! All sales benefit not only the local artist but also the guild, whose members collaborate to generate grants that support art activities and education throughout Oahu and help local artists learn the skills associated with group shows and local professional development. In 2021, WAG orchestrated a series of classes jointly run in partnership with Adventist Health Castle so that the community could easily and inexpensively seek group art class activity during the pandemic from home. The classes were a popular and much needed outlet. Additionally, there were a dozen scholarship-awards given out to talented high school students in the Scholastic Art show to encourage budding artists. To finish out the year, WAG will be creating opportunities for its artists to develop their skills through both this show, and our upcoming Mini Miniature show at Arts at Marks December 2 - 8, 2021, which promises to be an exciting holiday sale of small, affordable works (a great gift for those tricky people in your life who have everything!) Thank you for your support of local art!

Mini Miniatures Show: Call for Entry

We have a great opportunity to be part of an in-person show and pop-up sale this December. The Arts at Marks Garage is trying something new to showcase Hawaii arts and artists in an innovative format for the holidays. For each of the first three weeks of December, a different group will sponsor an exhibit of miniatures and WAG has the first week (Dec. 2-8) for our “Mini Miniatures Show,” featuring 2D work up to 80 sq. in. and 3D work up to 10 in. on the longest dimension. The great news is that there is no entry fee for all current paid members, and you are welcome to join us for just this show (http://windwardartistsguild.org/joinrenew/). Deadline is November 17. You can show up to 3 pieces and replace any that are sold. There will be a Pop-Up sale on Saturday and Sunday where you can offer prints, small originals, arts & crafts, etc. in addition to the show art. See the prospectus for all the details: WAG-Mini-Miniature-Show-at-Arts-at-Marks-Garage-2021-ProspectusDownload We're looking forward to seeing you and your art in this new venue and format. Watch for WAG Member Show Online

We miss our physical shows but are actively planning for 2022! Here is a look back at 2019 and our 59th annual member show... In light of continuing concerns for COVID, we are planning to have our 61st annual member show online. It is free to all WAG members and our views and sales last year were very good so it will be a worthwhile endeavor for our artist members. We are glad to be able to offer this show digitally until we can schedule something in person. We have been discussing options for 2022 in the hopes we can welcome our new members face to face. There is nothing like hanging a show together for teaching new artists how to put together a professional presentation, but this is the best alternative under the circumstances with our usual venue still closed. We thank each and every one of our members for supporting the educational goals of WAG. We have been very active especially with digital education in conjunction with Adventist Health Castle and the wellness program. It is the volunteer efforts of our board and support of our membership that helps make programs like this possible! Mahalo!
