The talents of the Windward Artists Guild are on display until October 30, 2025 at the Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden Gallery. The gallery is open 9:30 am - 3:30pm daily. The exhibit is also posted on this site, and during the time period of the show, the art is for sale online here. The exhibit also features a memorial art show for David Friedman, a member of the guild for many years. His painting, "Kawainui Marsh" is shown above.
Thank you to the thousands of visitors who came to Hoʻomaluhia and visited the gallery to see the show! It was a very good show with a lot of wonderful experiences for the artists involved, and we hope for our visitors as well! Our next show will be in October 2025, same place, Ho'omaluhia. This is extremely unusual. We feel very lucky to show twice this year at one of the best gallery spaces on the island! The juror for this show was accomplished local painter Lynne Boyer who also just happens to be a two-time world surfing champion. Quite an impressive set of accomplishments! She chose awards for our guild that we would like to document in this post. We are happy to announce the completion of the Hoʻomaluhia Botanical Garden Gallery renovation and Windward Artists Guild's return to the venue which has hosted so many of our shows through the years. Please join us for the reception on Sunday, April 6, 12:30 - 3:30 pm. The gallery is open daily 9:30 am - 3:30 pm and our show will be up from April 2 to April 29, 2025. We hope you will come enjoy the art and the gardens. The juror of awards for this show is Lynne Boyer, the talented plein air painter and teacher (and world-class legendary surfer). The Emergence Show will be on display at Downtown Art Center until May 27, 2023. Featuring 52 artists from Windward Artists Guild and Association of Hawaii Artists, and memorial exhibits of art from Candace Fenander, Joan Fleming, and Barbara Sumida. The show includes all media, including paintings, drawings, ceramics, several types of glass art, and wall sculpture.

We invite our members to display their art at Ho'omaluhia in October. This is not a juried show, but it always brings out beautiful art from our members. Hanging work at Ho'omaluhia is a chance to show many visitors from all around the world your beautiful art! If you would like to join us for this show (and our upcoming Arts at Marks holiday show), please do feel free to join or renew your WAG membership. The members display is free for all WAG members. Then you can download the prospectus from our Call for Entry page. The gallery space in 2019 during our 59th annual member show Unlike previous years, we will be requiring members who have pieces in the show to be at the gallery for two 3-hour shifts during the month the show will be open (October 2022). This is a valuable opportunity to meet new people. You can answer questions they might have about the show or about your art, and it gives you a chance to see the show in depth and spend time at the gardens. Food is not allowed in the art gallery, but you can bring a snack and enjoy an impromptu picnic either before or after your gallery sitting.

Hawaii Watercolor Society Members' Show at Downtown Art Center 2022 Hawaii Watercolor Society Members' ShowDowntown Art CenterMarch 29-April 30Tues-Sat noon-6pmSun noon-4pmJuror Eric Wiegardt has selected 70 works from local artists--many of whom are members of WAG and AHA as well as HWS. The exhibit also includes 3-D work by invited ceramicists, including the late Charles Higa who was active as a potter as well as an award-winning watercolorist. First Friday reception will be April 1, 5 - 6:30 pm. Linda Umstead's piece, Daybreak Waterhole (above) won the Best in Show/Golden Callus award. HERstory at Arts at Mark's Garage Arts at Mark's Garage hosts HERstory through March 26, 2022. The gallery is open Tuesdays through Saturdays noon to 5 pm. There is one last Pau Hana Reception on March 25, 2022 from 5 - 7 pm - don't miss it! The show features some of our talented WAG member artists including Cynthia Schubert, Claudia Wallace, Frances Wong, and MaryAnne Long who curated the show. Also open in the same area is the Downtown Art Center, with new regular hours Tuesdays - Saturdays 11 am - 4 pm. WAG Members Wendy Roberts and Jimmy Tablante have work in the gallery at this time.
Windward Artists Guild would like to invite the public to view its first major in-person show in two years! Impressions/Expressions is on display at the Windward Community College's elegant 'Iolani Gallery from February 4 - March 4, 2022. The gallery is open Weekdays and Sundays 1 - 5 pm. The gallery is closed on Saturdays. The reception will be in the outdoor courtyard on February 11, 2022 from 4 - 7 pm. We hope to see you there! Enjoy the show!
