Take your art to the next level by incorporating your own hand-pulled sheets of paper. Join well-known artist and educator Allison Roscoe who specializes in making unique, beautiful papers for her 2-D and 3-D artwork, including handmade books, sculptures, and illuminated pieces. Her Intro to Papermaking mini-sessions on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5 will provide the opportunity for you to make your own sheets of paper while learning about the history of papermaking. Note that these sheets are acid-free, archival quality from fibers pulped in a specialized (and expensive!) Hollander beater. Sessions are held at the Manoa Heritage Center in Manoa – an inspiring and serene location perfect for these classes. Visit their website at www.manoaheritagecenter.org to register for class, explore additional papermaking special topic classes, and learn more about the center and its mission. WAG’s Education Committee is in the process of arranging a 2020 workshop onproducing handmade books with Allison to be held on the windward side. Stay tuned for details in early 2020!
